This very well carved wood figure is especially unusual, because it is signed. The wood is lacquered in red and gold. The piece is 5-1/2" high, and the base is about 4" long.

The condition is excellent, with the only loss being to the item once held in the Immortal's hand. It may have been a sword, or it may have been a fan, if he represents Chung-li Ch'uan.

According to my friend, Ting, if the characters are read from right to left, the first three characters represent the name of a Taoist god. The name is pronounced "Ma Jia Luo". He is an assistant of Baoshengdadi.
