This is a high quality pressed glass plate made to commemorate the 50 year reign (1848-1898) of Franz Joseph I, Emperor of Austria, and King of Hungary and Bohemia. The small plate is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. It was most likely made by the S. Reich factory of Vienna. It is 4-3/4" (12 cm) in diameter. This early 19th C porcelain Teapot was made by Chamberlain's Worcester about 1810. The decoration is small underglaze blue flower sprays and gilded leaves. A very similar teapot may be seen in Geoffrey Godden's book "Chamberlain-Worcester Porcelain" on page 106. The definitive features which make this Chamberlain's Worcester are: the domed strainer, the D-shaped pouring guard, and the finial. This gorgeous teapot is in amazing condition! The gilding is all intact, the hand painted decoration (brown oak leaves and golden acorns) is still bright and strong. Worcester is famous for good gilding, and this teapot attests to that. Both the base and the lid are marked with the incised "B", Godden's mark 4333, which he dates c.1792-1807.
