Pottery:Antique:Spode:Copeland & Garrett

This richly decorated plate was a popular pattern for Spode; it was first made in 1821. It was still being made in the Spode New Stone body in 1833, when Copeland & Garrett took over the Spode works. Being thrifty folk, they just added their "Copeland & Garrett Late Spode" mark to the back of the plate, which was made by Spode and impressed Spodes New Stone. This plate therefore dates from 1833. It is also marked with the pattern number is 3248 handwritten in gold. According to the Spode Museum ...
