This richly decorated plate was a popular pattern for Spode; it was first made in 1821. It was still being made in the Spode New Stone body in 1833, when Copeland & Garrett took over the Spode works. Being thrifty folk, they just added their "Copeland & Garrett Late Spode" mark to the back of the plate, which was made by Spode and impressed Spodes New Stone. This plate therefore dates from 1833.
