This 9" dinner plate is a combination of transfers and hand painted enamels. Produced by Francis Morley, circa 1845-58. It is impressed "F. Morley & Co." and printed with a pseudo-Chinese mark. Mr. Morley bought the Mason's Patent Ironstone molds and copper-plates during this period, and added them to his already well established company. The Mason's Patent Ironstone mark was also used by the Morley Company at this time. (See Godden's Mark Book, page 449.) The plate has a nice ring to it, and ...
