"Rip Van Winkle" was written by Washington Irving and illustrated by the famous artist N.C. Wyeth. Published by David McKay Company the book was copyrighted in 1921. The illustrations in this book are truly stunning. Each has an ethereal light and movement to it that is a trademark of Wyeth's work. The book has a brown cloth cover with a paste-down illustration. The spine has gilded lettering. There are illustrated end papers and a tissue covered frontispiece. As well as 8 full color plates there are pen and ink illustrations throughout this wonderful vintage book. The book is in very good vintage condition with some light scuffing on the front paste-down illustration. There is some slight shelf wear but the pages are clean and minimally yellowed and the binding is tight. A wonderful classic work with rare illustrations by an amazing artist.
