.... presented for your consideration is my “Earth Meets Sky” pendant necklace. The pendant on this necklace was completely hand wired and features an ornate and stunningly beautiful focal bead designed and created by lampwork artisan, Helen Stoughton. This bead is breathtaking! I wish my photos had been able to capture the beauty of it. Helen’s impeccable detail and the magnificent use of color displayed in this bead is awe inspiring. A lampwork bead is a one of a kind work of art made with the use of a torch and glass. Gazing into the lampwork bead, you can see a multitude of earthy colors and I have pulled out and highlighted the colors with faceted moukite jasper gemstones and aqua colored African sand cast beads. The sand cast beads (made of recycled glass) lend a rough and earthy look to this necklace. The glass beads are knotted together on brown leather and beige silk cord with sterling Balinese spacers between them. I hand forged the hook clasp from sterling silver and added some fine silver chain near the end, which allows the necklace to adjust from 17 to 18 inches (app. 43 cm - 45.7 cm). The chain near the clasp has a higher silver content than sterling. Each link of the chain is decorated with a floral stamping and was handcrafted by artisans of the Karen Hill Tribe Indians of Thailand. All metal used in this necklace is sterling silver (925) or fine silver (997). Please note that the bust I use for display is not to scale, so jewelry my appear larger or longer than the actual size.
