Helen Jensen's "Gladdie" of Biscaloid and Composition 18"

This little cutie from the 1930's is quite famous for his/her smaile. This doll can be dressed either way to take advantage of the lovely wide grin. The head is made of biscaloid which is a substance which is neither bisque nor composition. The face has just a few tiny spots where paint is missing. Other than that, I can't find anything wrong with it. She is dressed in a sweet dress of red and white check with ric rac trim. The bonnet is of the sun bonnet type and made of red and white polka dot material. She wears old rayon socks and cream shoes that are somewhat newer. Her bloomers are red rayon. What an infectious grin--she just lights up the room. Her little basket is only a prop.
