Presenting an interesting inkwell with lots of character and charm. This intriguing piece has very appealing elements, such as dragons and figural masks. I was told by my friend Abe, that this was given to missionaries on their trips and this one definitely had some use. I am sure this was the medium by which many life stories were written. You can clearly see some old paint smear inside the metal crease and the glass inkwell. The glass inkwell has a raised letter "A" on the bottom and probably was replaced. It fits comfortably, but is clearly not the perfect fit as the original would. The hinged lid has a figural face on front and back with a feather crown decoration which might represent a high hierarchy or important leader. The other elements are represented by dragons, and if you observe closely not all of them are identical. One stands out (larger on left) more than the others and each of them has a different decoration on top of their heads. This entire piece is made on old brass. This is not a modern piece. The bottom stands on 3 brass balls, has an incised number and measures 8 inches long, 4 3/4 inches wide and 4 inches tall. The condition is excellent, with the only exception of the lid which is just little loose, caused by wear.
