Featuring a fantastic Sterling Cherubs Box with the original fabric lining inside. It displays a sequence of embossed medallions with cherubs motif with wings. Each medallion is framed with flowers and leaves decoration, which was very popular in the Victorian Era. It is a locking box, but there is no key with it. It opens and close very smooth. It is hallmarked on two places, the top lid and on one side of the box. Both hallmarks are "William Comyns", who was a distinguished silversmith of its time. On the other hand, the bottom lining is marked "Mappin & Webb". It seems that "Mapping & Webb" distributed this box. The marking dates between late 1890's to early 1900's, with the Lion, Leopard without crown and the lower case "k" silver mark. The condition is exceptional. I can't hardly see a very small ding on one of the sides. The overall is perfect. Only the bottom lining has some wear on the edges. It measures 10 1/4 inches long, 5 inches deep and 3 1/2 inches tall. Layaway Available
