A wonderful pair of Rosenthal lamps. The creamy white porcelain globes are supported by little feet that have a bit of visual 'spring' to them...just perfect, don't you think? They're covered with lovely hand painted meandering cobalt blue vines with flowers, gold accents, and little red berries.

This Rosenthal mark dates from 1936-1954, and appears on both lamps. Rosenthal pieces from these years are rare. The pair is a wonderful expression of this transitional time, their shape being 'moderne', suggesting Mid-Century Modern, with their decoration expressing a more traditional aesthetic.

The hand painted word "handgemalt" means 'hand painted' in German, and I believe the initial after this is that of the individual artist.

This perfect pair of 'boudoir' lamps stands approximately 10" tall to the top of the socket...add a little more for a bulb and shade of your choice.

The original brass sockets and switches are all present and working, and the lamps appear to have been recently rewired. Each brass socket is stamped "Zenith," an unusual association with a German firm in those years around the Second World War. The porcelain pieces are perfect...no chips, no cracks, no crazing.

They're just fabulous and I know you'll love them!
