Diminutive Romantic Staffordshire Transferware Platter - 'Waverly' by Thomas Edwards - 1841

A sweet little platter with a typical early to mid 19th C romantic design... two ladies and a gent out for a stroll, body of water with a castle on the distant shore, small boats, rustic bridge and gazebo whose roof curves up with an oriental flair... a lovely design with all the elements we've come to love, framed by a wide border, and presented in a beautiful light blue. The pattern is 'Waverly' by Thomas Edwards circa 1841, and the overall shape of this little piece couldn't be prettier.

Condition is good with one small chip on the back that is not visible on the front, and priced accordingly. Impressed on the back is the Thomas Edwards mark surrounded by the words "Porcelain Opaque". Measures 5 5/8" x 7 3/8".

A lovely little piece to join your blue and white collection on a wall, in a cabinet, or perfect for a few chocolates. And wouldn't the blue look spectacular with some lemon wedges the next time you serve fish? Of course it might just be the perfect turkey platter at your dolls' next Thanksgiving celebration... but I'm sure you've already got a bunch of your own ideas in mind.
