Wonderful antique French opaline glass, some of the finest in the world, fashioned into a lovely compote, with dore bronze mounts, rim and foot... simple and stunning.

Condition is great, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. I would say it is in almost untouched condition, even retaining the original paper label, which you almost never see. This beautiful piece measures 6 3/4" across the top, and stands 5 1/4" high.

The glass has the characteristic golden glow when held to the light, an inner fire, along with a bluish tint when seen against a dark backdrop. Very mysterious.

This is a beautifully proportioned piece with a deep, voluptuous curve to the bowl. The ormolu foot is decorated with sinuous vines and an alternating pattern of grapes and leaves. I can imagine large bunches of fragrant Concord grapes spilling over the golden lip in season... absolutely fabu!
