A nice Royal Doulton character jug in fine condition. John Barleycorn, who is a symbol of whiskey, was the first of the Royal Doulton character jugs to be launched. Designed by Charles J. Poke, it was withdrawn from production in 1960.

Condition is great with no problems to report. The mark is the Royal Doulton mark with an "A". This is an early version of the handle which has varied through the years, and the large size. The words "John Barleycorn Old Lad" are embossed on the back of the jug.

A nice piece to add to a collection... or start one.
