SOLD Bisque Pug Dog Toothpick or Match Holder / Strike

This little bisque pug dog sits by a blue glazed basket... "good boy." A perfect piece for the lover of dog themed antiques, he's awfully cute with his pensive expression. His basket and collar are glazed and fired, while his face, tail, and other body details are cold painted.

I believe this is a match holder with the rough surface of the basket fashioned as the 'strike', but it could be used for many things... to corral some cotton swabs, or those cosmetic pencils that just seem to multiply on our dressing tables. Super.

Condition is very nice with only a little paint wear around the nose and ears, and a manufacturing crack on the inside of the basket where it leans against the body. The only mark is the number '21' in red paint on the bottom. This sweetie stands 4¾" to the tip of the ear, and is most likely European and early 20th C.

A warm-hearted little piece with crossover interest for many collectors. If you have a dog lover in your life, or more particularly, a pug lover... look no further.
