The print is signed by the artist Lucian Gray, and is also inscribed in the center below the image "Entered according to an Act of Congress by Lucian Gray in the year 1839 in the Clerks Office, South'en Dis't of NY" (the date is possibly 1859, I can't be sure since there is a flaw in the impression).
It was printed by "W. C. Robertson, 59 Cedar St. NY.", and is so marked on the lower left bottom of the image. The other name that appears on the lower right of the image is "Thomas Kelly 35 Bowery, N. Y.", and he was possibly the colorist.
The image shows Mary as a lovely young woman, not the picture we usually see today. The Catholic Mary wears a cross on her ear. The pose is classic, Mary stands in a woodland setting, thistles at her feet, with a Scottish landscape vista and castle beyond. Perhaps this was a way for 19th C America to glorify this martyred Queen, who had also stood against the British.
The frame looks to be 20th C, and the print shows a few small edge rips that were likely acquired before it was framed. There is a very minor amount of foxing, which you can see in the photographs, particularly on the bottom, but really nothing that distracts from the beauty of this historic piece. Overall measurements 22¼" x 28½", quite a large print.
