Little Recruits was one of the first brands of cigars and cigarettes to participate in what was, I believe, the first truly modern marketing scheme... baseball cards. The cards included in Little Recruits packages include some of the rarest and earliest baseball cards in existence. Known as T-207 cards, and more commonly called 'Brown Backgrounds', because of the background color of the images, they were included in Little Recruits packages as early as 1912. These cards were often collected, and today are some of the most sought after and costly baseball cards around... the only thing rarer is the package the cards came in... an actual package of Little Recruits Cigars. These packages were almost always discarded.
Condition is good. There are some folds and wear to the package and flap, and a it of general soiling, but the original cardboard insert and paper are present, along with one of the ten original 'little cigars'. The cigar is for collectible and display purposes only, and not intended for consumption in any way. The graphics are clear and bright. Please look at the pictures. The box measures 1 78" x 2 78", and the cigar itself is about 1 78" long. c. 1910's-1920's.
This is a great item for a collector of these early cards, as not many packages survived at all... you won't see another anytime soon.
