Handmade Hammered Copper Tray

A handsome piece from the transition time between the Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts movements, also known as the Aesthetic period. It displays a straightforward integrity of design, complemented by flowing, organic lines around it's hand crafted edge, all typical of this time.

The surface of the tray has been hammered out, it's broad lip displaying a texture that looks a bit like the lines of a woodcut, another popular art form practiced during this period. The edges of the lip are decoratively curled, with the whole displaying a rich patinated surface.

Condition is grand. There are a few areas where the copper is developing a characteristic green patina. Measures 10" x 4 1/4". Early 20th C.

A worthy addition to an Arts & Crafts decor. This great little tray is the perfect perch for a treasured pen, but it would serve equally well on her dresser as a pin tray or on his as a catchall for a watch and whatever. Treat yourself, or gift someone special.
