There are decorative Victorian buttons... one brass button even has a windmill in relief, shells of several kinds, many types of beads, watch chain findings including a figural bar clasp shaped like a hand. There's a token of some kind that says "Play Coin", bits of chain, and a couple of decorative brass pieces shaped like a Fleur de Lis.
It was found in the Adirondacks, and judging from the age of the items pressed into it's surface, I would say it is from the 1930's or 1940's but could easily be even earlier.
Condition is very good. There don't seem to be any losses, and the piece is covered with shiny varnish or shellac, which has kept it in good condition. It stands 3˝" tall, and there's a lot packed onto it.
This little jar is a fine, if somewhat goopy example of this form... makes me wonder about who made it and where all it's little pretties came from.
A nice piece for your collection, or gift that Folk Art lover in your life.
Item ID: RL-157
