A Felicitous Gathering of Curious Goods - Have a question? Need more information? Email me - mjbakst@yahoo.com
The mark on the bottom of the caddy is Hammond Creake & Company, 1886 - 1935, Sheffield, England. I think the forks are volunteers, Vernon Silver Plate, but I include them since I found them with this piece, and they'd be perfect for tiny gherkins. The bun feet are notable, with a ring of tiny beading
The jars are lovely, fine quality, with faceted knobs on the tops, and ground bottoms that show age appropriate wear. The throats of the tops have deep cut slits to fit long slender implements like these forks or preserve spoons. These slits have a few nicks... that is the only condition exception to mention. This is a good looking, antique set... suitable for use. The set measures 9˝ tall, 9" wide, and the bottles stand 6˝" tall.
So, if you've been looking for something to class up the breakfast table, or serve you favorite caper berries from, look no further.
