Six Painted Goose Eggs - Folk Art - Different & Decorative

$265 USD Offers ConsideredSix Painted Goose Eggs - Folk Art - Different & Decorative

Fine Art:Folk Art, Outsider Art
An even half-a-dozen goose eggs with wonderful old, crackled paint. These babies look as if they might be sporting rugby stripes, something a bit different from the usual springtime pastels... curious and quite handsome. Condition is great. The eggs were pierced and emptied; each has a small patch of what looks like old fashioned adhesive tape that covers the hole under the paint. They measure approximately 3 1/2" long and 2 1/2" wide, and I would guesstimate a 1930's date. I show them displayed ...
Signed Folk Art Painting of Pansies - Watercolor & Graphite

$475 USD Offers ConsideredSigned Folk Art Painting of Pansies - Watercolor & Graphite

Fine Art:Folk Art, Outsider Art
Just a grand piece of antique Folk Art. This watercolor painting of pansies with their bright, happy faces has been proudly signed "Drawn and painted by Willie Pope. age 12 years." The inscription reminds me of those on antique 19th C samplers, innocent and a bit assertive, with a confident and optimistic spirit. And I think the use of the diminutive of 'William' adds a tender, sentimental note. Huzzah, Willie. Condition is original, lovely old frame and all... right down to the erasures on the ...
Pair of Painted Paper German Folk Art Masks - Halloween - Folk Art

$250 USD Offers ConsideredPair of Painted Paper German Folk Art Masks - Halloween - Folk Art

Fine Art:Folk Art, Outsider Art
These definitely fall into the category of the weird and wonderful. Always kind of spooky, masks are made to conceal, but often reveal more than they hide. These masks are made of inexpensive paper, never meant to survive this long. The hair is wool that has been sewn on with black thread. It's amazing to me that these fragile paper items have survived at all. I believe they are carnival masks, and were possibly used during Mardi Gras. They would make perfect accessories for the Halloween ...
Southern Southern American "Thank Yuo" Folk Art Carving - Man w/ Wheelbarrow

$125 USD Offers ConsideredSouthern Southern American "Thank Yuo" Folk Art Carving - Man w/ Wheelbarrow

Fine Art:Folk Art, Outsider Art
A completely charming folk carving of a man pushing a wheelbarrow. The base is incised with the words "Thank Yuo". With this motto, it was most likely a gift, made and given to thank the recipient. I purchased it in Georgia, where I believe it was made. It has a wacky, naive charm, and the mis-spelling just puts it over the top for me... WOW! Condition is great, all original. It is a primitive folk piece, so I would not expect it to be finely crafted... that's a large part of it's charm. It ...
Folk Art Pyramid - Burnt Match Stick Platform - Matchstick Art - Prison Art - Americana - Cris

$695 USD Offers ConsideredFolk Art Pyramid - Burnt Match Stick Platform - Matchstick Art - Prison Art - Americana - Cristian Cross - FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING

Fine Art:Folk Art, Outsider Art
An extraordinarily detailed pyramid fashioned of burnt wooden matches, with two small drawers at the bottom front. There are steps starting on the faces of these drawers that lead a path to the top as if tiny pilgrims were meant to ascend. Pieces like this, made of burnt matches, are sometimes referred to as "Prison Art" as they were often made by inmates who had few materials to work with, and so improvised, using what they had. Incredible really, and certainly evidence that creativity will out ...
Folk Art Folded Paper Heart Shaped Picture Frame - Prison Art - Outsider Art - Paper Chain - G

$100 USD Offers ConsideredFolk Art Folded Paper Heart Shaped Picture Frame - Prison Art - Outsider Art - Paper Chain - Gum Wrapper Chain - Americana - Crafts

Fine Art:Folk Art, Outsider Art
A great little frame made out of intricately folded white paper. These folded paper pieces were often made out of cigarette, candy, or gum wrappers, with the color of the wrapper being a part of the design. Often prisoners would make them, and they are sometimes referred to as 'Prison Art'. This piece was made out of simple white paper that has a shiny slick surface, which helps it blend with a wide range of decorating styles without shouting. You slip a picture up from the bottom, it fits in ...
Early Memory Jar w/ Beads, Shells, Buttons, Watch Chains & More - Americana

$125 USD Offers ConsideredEarly Memory Jar w/ Beads, Shells, Buttons, Watch Chains & More - Americana

Fine Art:Folk Art, Outsider Art
A nice old memory jar with oodles of little treasures embedded in it's surface. There are decorative Victorian buttons... one brass button even has a windmill in relief, shells of several kinds, many types of beads, watch chain findings including a figural bar clasp shaped like a hand. There's a token of some kind that says "Play Coin", bits of chain, and a couple of decorative brass pieces shaped like a Fleur de Lis. It was found in the Adirondacks, and judging from the age of the items pressed ...
Folk Art Carving of Mardi Gras Crewe Member

$165 USD Offers ConsideredFolk Art Carving of Mardi Gras Crewe Member

Fine Art:Folk Art, Outsider Art
This intricately carved fellow came along with a bit of family history, placing him as a Mardi Gras Crewe member from the 1930's - 1940's. And he certainly does have a bit of a wiggle in his walk. Full of personality, from his high Elizabethan style neck ruff to his textured jacket and flowing wavy hair, he is the perfect reveler... caught in mid gyration. Condition is great with no problems to report. He stands a shade over 8" tall on a base that measures 2 1/16" x 3 1/16". Carved with skill ...
Folk Art Model of a Bus - Deconstructs to Show Interior

$375 USD Offers ConsideredFolk Art Model of a Bus - Deconstructs to Show Interior

Fine Art:Folk Art, Outsider Art
An ingeniously wacky little bus, designed and made, very definitely, by an individual. A real Folk Art object. I don't know if this model served any purpose other than to entertain the maker, but it certainly is a specific and detailed piece. A great deal of care and effort went into this miniature whimsy. The outside shell of the bus is held on with four nails, two at the front and two at the rear of the bus. These nails go straight in through the exterior shell and fasten it to the interior ...
SOLD Folk Art Caving of Businessman - Wonderful Caricature

SOLDSOLD Folk Art Caving of Businessman - Wonderful Caricature

Fine Art:Folk Art, Outsider Art
This fantastically exaggerated wooden carving of a man in a suit is, I believe, a caricature of a 'fat-cat' businessman. From his belly to his smile, he is preposterously overwrought. His features and posture are stylized, and marvelously expressive... the whole piece is just an outstanding representation of a pompous, overblown individual. Condition is good with some wear to the paint, most especially on the right eye, and an inconsequential chip here and there. Almost certainly American. I ...
SALE PENDING Clown Carnival Game Target - Ping-Pong Ball or Beanbag Toss - Folk Art - Toys - G

$395 USD Sale PendingSALE PENDING Clown Carnival Game Target - Ping-Pong Ball or Beanbag Toss - Folk Art - Toys - Games

Fine Art:Folk Art, Outsider Art
This effervescent fellow has a big mouth... and an appetite for ping pong balls or small beanbags. Once a carnival game, he is now a wonderful piece of Folk Art, standing ready to decorate a mantle, table, shelf... just about anywhere that could use a touch of whimsy. Condition is great with expected wear to the paint and original fabric bag, pretty amazing that it's there at all, no? Measuring 16 5/8" tall and 9 1/8" wide at the hips, this little joker is made of solid quarter inch boards. Even ...
SOLD Naive Wooden Horse Carving - Folk Art - Americana

SOLDSOLD Naive Wooden Horse Carving - Folk Art - Americana

Fine Art:Folk Art, Outsider Art
A wonderful folk art carving of a horse. This piece was obviously done by a carver with considerable skill, but nevertheless, retains a naive quality. This horse seems to have a trimmed tail (no split ends here), and his mane is braided almost down to the bottom... fancy touches used in dressage, and other competitions. Condition is great, no problems to report at all. This honey of a piece stands 9¼" to the tips of the ears, including the base. I found it in eastern Canada, where I am guessing ...
SOLD Huge Folk Art Papier Mache Fishing Lure - Advertising Display - Sports - Signs - American

SOLDSOLD Huge Folk Art Papier Mache Fishing Lure - Advertising Display - Sports - Signs - Americana

Fine Art:Folk Art, Outsider Art
What an incredible object, this must be the ultimate 'fishing piece' of all time. I don't know anybody who has ever seen another, so this may very well be a one-of-a-kind. And I just love things that are unconventionally scaled, the element of surprise adds an immediate and compelling appeal. This fantastic giant lure was most likely a display in an early tackle shop. But I'm not certain if this was a manufactured piece or a one-off made by an individual entrepreneur. I believe real fishing ...
