Just look at this fantastic piece of Victorian Stumpwork. A type of raised and padded embroidery that has its origins in the 17th C. The subjects may vary, but it's always worked sculpturally. A lively schoolgirl sampler from the end of the 19th C embroidered and dated by Sara Kristensen. This fantastic little corset or girdle is a perfect miniature, designed to showcase the features of the "Warner's Rust Proof" corset. A beautiful example of fine Victorian beadwork displaying a central floral cartouche surrounded by ombre leaves on a rich red ground. Deliciously opulent.
