Vintage Kerosene Bicycle Lamp - The Unique

This old bicycle lamp is called The "Unique" which is on the decorative, domed vent over the burner along with; M.B. Co. N.Y.. It is made of brass which was nickeled originally and has a wonderful shape with a protruding convex lens and a small reservoir. The lever on the back is like a spring clip which lifts up slightly to release the reservoir so the wick assembly can be unscrewed to fill the reservoir. It has its original convex front lens, and side jewels, one red and one green. The lens holder is hinged on the right and clips closed on the left. The wick is adjusted by the thumb screw on the right which reads; M.B. Co. N.Y.. It also has its original spring style bracket on the back which is also made of brass.

The lamp is complete and in very nice condition. As mentioned is was originally nickeled but has been polished down to the brass. There is a very slight amount of nickel showing in the deep creases. It has not been lacquered and will mellow over time. The body is very good with very little wear. The lens is in good condition also. It measures about 6 1/4" tall.
