This silly looking celluloid bird is an old pencil sharpener probably from the 1930's - 40's. A metal pencil sharpener is inserted into the base of the pelican and is removable so you can empty the graphite shavings. The metal part is embossed Made in Japan on the cone.
There is no damage on this piece but the paint shows wear and the celluloid seems permanently dirty from the graphite. It measures about 3 1/8" tall.
