Vintage Pen Holder- Metal Bamboo

This old pen holder is quite stunning. It has the appearance of bronze but I believe it is probably made of brass with a bronzed patina over it. It looks like bamboo stalks and leaves mounted on a round base. The largest stalk is open to accept a small diameter pen, possibly it was originally for a quill pen. It is shown here with a Cross pencil (not included).

The base measures about 1 3/4" in diameter and it measures about 2" tall. The pen opening measures about 1/4" in diameter. It is in very nice condition with some areas of brass showing through. The three points where the stalk and leaves attach to the base are sort of clear and shiny but I think it is in the way it was made. I have tried to "chip" at it to see if it is a glue or silicone but it doesn't mar at all.
