Vintage C.H. Hanson Advertising Paper Clip with Fishing Scene

This beautifully made old metal clip is advertising The C.H. Hanson Company of Chicago. It has a wonderful design of a man fishing from a canoe with another man rowing. It is a beautiful piece of art and is signed at the lower right hand corner with what looks to read; N. Oram. It is probably made of brass or bronze and part of the design is enameled. At the top it reads; Makers of Etched Plates - Brass Checks - Adjustable Stencils - Seals - Badges - Rubber Stamps - Steel Letters and Figures - Steel Stamps - Stamp and Stencil Inks. Oddly enough it is advertising the same company that made it which is written on the back. It was not uncommon for an advertising company to practice what it preached by advertising itself on products they wanted you to put your business name on.

It is in good condition with minimal wear. The front is quite nice but the back shows wear to the plating and finish. The spring works well. It measures almost 4" at the widest point and 3 1/2" high.
