This striking old metal clip is advertising The Manhattan Fire & Marine Insurance Company. In the center of the colorful clip is the profile of an Indian Chief in full headdress within a gold circle. Across the top it reads; Cash Capitol $1,000,000. and the bottom has the New York address on William Street. I find no maker on it.
This is painted steel and in very nice condition. The spring works well. The gold has a little discoloration across the top edge but otherwise there is very minimal wear. The metal under the gold paint on the back is pitted causing a blotchy appearance. It measures about 2 3/8" at the widest point and 2 3/4" long.
