Vintage Twentieth Century Carbide Bicycle Lamp

This old carbide bicycle lamp was made in the United States by the 20th Century Mfg. Co. around the turn of the century. On the back it reads. 20th Century Mfg. Co. - Made in the U.S. of America - Patents and Design Appl'd For. The name Twentieth Century is on the top of the vent. It is mostly made of nickeled brass except for the lens holder and the inside reflector compartment which are aluminum. It is hinged on the right and clips closed on the left. The front lens is embossed; 20TH CENTURY across the top. The original side glass pieces, one red, one green, are stationary and do not open. It has its original adjustable steel bracket which has new felt on the inside.

It measures about 7" tall and appears to be all original and complete including the porcelain burner. Most of the nickel is in good original condition although it is worn through to the brass on the top portion of the vent and the bezel around the red side jewel. The jewels are in very good condition. The aluminum has a minimal amount of pitting.
