This old tobacco tin is a Pedro Cut Plug Smoking Tobacco tin with a hinged lid. This style of tin is generally called a lunch box or lunch pail. Pedro was manufactured by Wm. S. Kimball & Co. - The American Tobacco Co., Successor. The graphics on the lid has six playing cards, 10 through ace of hearts and the 5 of hearts. The front and back panels are basically the same with the name and the jack of spades card but the one panel also has the manufacturers information. One end panel has an Indian pipe and the other has a corn cob pipe. This is hinged at the short end and it has the original tin latch at the other end. It has the original steel bail on the top of the lid. Factory No. 2 Dist of MD. is part of the information on the bottom.

It measures about 7 ¾” by 5 1/8” by 4 ¼” high excluding the handle. It is in nice condition with some wear. The colors are generally good but there are light scratches all around. There are teeny spots that look like white paint specks on the lid that are actually showing bare metal. The gold is worn and the edge is discolored around the edge of the lid. There is a fairly large scuff area on one corner of the body and the panel with the manufactures information is more severely scratched with fine lines and there is some tape or label residue in the center of the panel. It is fairly straight with minimal dents. The latch and hinge are tight and the handle is in tact.

The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
