Vintage Dakota Globe Candy Jar with Pedestal Base

This beautiful old apothecary or candy jar was probably used in a soda fountain or general store. The pattern is called Dakota and it came in an unknown number of sizes. They were originally available with ground or non ground lids. A ground lid and collar was more air tight for unwrapped candies like lemon drops. Non ground jars cost the shop owner less and could be used for wrapped candies and sundry items like sponges. This jar does not have a ground lid or collar.

It measures about 11 ¾” tall with about a 5” diameter base. The circumference of the globe is approximately 19 ¼”. The opening at the top measures about 3”. The last picture shows this jar, on the left with a larger 14” jar on the right, for comparison. It is in very good condition with minimal wear and no damage.
