Vintage 20th Century Kerosene Bicycle Lamp from 1898

This antique bicycle lamp was made in the United States in the late 1800's by the 20th Century Mfg.Co. as indicated on the back. There are many different variations on the old 20th Century kerosene lamp. This one has a 1895 U.S. patent on the bottom as well as 1897 & 1898 patents for other countries. The kerosene reservoir is filled by sliding the lever on the back side to release the bottom and removing it. The knob on the right adjusts the wick up and down. It is mostly nickeled brass which is in fairly good condition showing minimal wear and discoloration.

The lens holder and the inside reflector compartment are aluminum and have a minimal amount of pitting. It is hinged on the right and clips closed on the left. The front lens is embossed; 20TH CENTURY across the top. The side glass pieces (one red, one green) are in very good condition. They are stationary and do not open.

It has a bail which folds up so it can be carried when it is not clamped to a bicycle. This does not come with a mounting bracket.

The lamp is approximately 5 1/2" tall with the bail down and is in nice original condition. Email if you would like more pictures.
