This wonderful old reference book has 300 four-color photographs with several times that many species and varieties. The pictures are beautiful! There is also educational text offering information on the different plants. There are 634 semi-glossy pages and it also comes with a special transparent Identification Grid that is placed over each plate to help interpret the identification key. The hardbound cover has a deeply embossed, gold floral spray on the front. Edward Loomis Davenport Seymour is the editor with Henry E. Downer, Paul F. Frese, James G. Esson & Thomas H. Everett as contributors. It has a 1949 copyright by the publisher Wm. H. Wise & Co., Inc. of New York.

It measures about 5 ¾” by 8 5/8” by 1 3/8” and is in very good condition with minimal wear. There is a tiny bit of staining on the first pages and the corner and edges show a little wear. The first several pages appear wrinkled but it is an impression caused by the embossed cover. Overall the pages are very clean with a tight spine. No dust jacket.
