A Maling dish with pink thumbprint design, edged with a pattern of primulas. About 10.2 inches in overall length, this is an attractive boat-shaped dish. There are a few slight manufacturing flaws – some small round brown marks on the pink pattern inside the dish and three slight black marks on the pink pattern on the underside. Otherwise perfect. A pretty and collectable dish.

An unusual Art Deco lamp base and integral shade made from oyster wood - wood cut across the branch to reveal the rings. This has not been pieced. It must have been cut from the top of a pollarded tree with very even branches, then turned on a lathe. About 14 inches in height. Slight crackling to the varnish on the base, otherwise in excellent condition.

A cute studio pottery gnome, stoneware with a brown glazed cap. He measures about 3.5 inches (8cm) in height and appears to be solid, not hollow. He has a mark which looks like a M over a W in a rounded square frame. In perfect condition. Quite heavy for his size because of his solidity.

A good sized mug, four inches in height, from the Adams 'Cries of London' series - 'Milk below Maids'. The transfer print is from one of the famous paintlings by F. Wheatly, RA. In excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. Slight wear to the green rim, as is to be expected. This is clearly shown in the photographs.

A charming Aesthetic brown transferware porcelain trio from the short-lived (1883 - 1916) Pointon & Co, Ltd. of Hanley, Staffordshire. The pattern is mainly of iris, with some birds, and decorative panels in the Japonaiserie style. The cup is small, almost a coffee can in size but not quite. The mark is impressed, only on the saucer, and has proved difficult to photograph, but I have tried. In perfect condition with no chips or cracks.

A Victorian silver bonbon dish, hallmarked in Birmingham in 1897. It has a prettily pierced rim and measures about 4.7 inches in diameter. The full UK hallmark is shown but it is well hidden in the scrollwork. The maker's mark is CS FS with possibly a badly struck '&' in between. I am informed (thank you, A.C.) that this is Cornelius Saunders & Francis Shepard. A handsome pair of silver-handled fish servers, missing their date mark, probably by John Round of Sheffield, circa 1880. They could also be by Joseph Rodgers. They may not look very practical, but are very useful when serving a large fish such as a whole poached salmon. I recommend poaching as a way of cooking the salmon, but not as a method for obtaining it!
