This beautiful silk dress was obviously made by an expert dressmaker.

The bodice is pleated and tucked, with a scoop yoke bordering a collar of black lace lined with ecru silk. The skirt is also shaped with tucks for about two-thirds of the skirt length, with the tucks falling open into pleats beneath a horizontal band to the hem. A flat panel runs straight down the front of the skirt to the hem, and is accented by four button-and-loop decorations. These decorative elements also trim the bodice of the dress.

The matching belt is sewn to the front of the waist and fastens in back with hooks-and-eyes. The dress fastens with hook-and-eyes from the collar to the hips.

The black silk fabric is in remarkably good condition, with the exception of a small hole in the bodice (see photo) and another near the hem. The black lace at the neck has several tears. The seam of one of the sleeve armholes is torn – see photo.

The dress measures 15 inches from shoulder to waist, and the skirt is 54 inches long. The waist is about 25 inches around. As you can see, my mannequin is too short for the dress. The back of the neck is not fastened as my mannequin's neck is a bit too large.

This vintage dress will be protectively packaged and shipped by priority mail, with free postage and insurance included. International packages will be sent by insured priority mail, also free of charge.
