The very long full title of this book is: “Micah Clarke, His Statement, as made to his three grandchildren, Joseph, Gervas and Reuben, during the hard winter of 1734”. The book was written by Arthur Conan Doyle in 1889, the famous author of the Sherlock Holmes stories.

This edition was published by Lovell, Coryell & Company in New York, circa 1896. This is an unauthorized or pirate edition of this book, as there were no copyright laws protecting British books from US publication at that time. There is no publication date in the book, but 1896 was the year of the publisher's move to the Sixth Avenue address noted in the book, and also the publisher’s name was changed to Coryell & Co. in 1897.

The book has brown fabric-covered boards with gold lettering on the spine. It is in good condition, with some damage at the top and bottom of the spine. There are no cracks at the endpapers, but the sewn spine is cracked in one section. The interior pages are in good condition, with no tears or creases, although the page edges are soiled.

The book contains 405 numbered pages, and measures approximately 5 by 7-1/2 inches. The last few pages contains a list of other books (by James Barrie and Marie Corelli as well as Doyle) published by this firm. There is no dust jacket.

This book will be protectively packaged and shipped in a box by media mail, including postal insurance within the US. International postal insurance may be declined if not desired.
