This annual Democratic Party event, the Jefferson Jackson Dinner, was held in 1951 on April 14th, at the National Guard Armory in Washington, DC. (Smaller events were held at the state level.)

The large booklet contains full-page photos of notables such as President Harry Truman, Vice-President Alben Barkley, Speaker of the House Sam Rayburn, and officers of the Democratic National Committee. A complete listing of national and executive committee members, as well as contributors and guests, is included (which would be anybody and everybody who was prominent in the Democratic Party at that time).

The main event of the evening was a major address by President Truman. This dinner was held three days after Truman’s radio address to the American people on the Korean conflict and his firing of General MacArthur, so I’m sure he included these topics in his speech.

The smaller booklet contains the seating plan for the dinner – 528 tables with 10 persons at each one. Also in this group of memorabilia are two tickets to the dinner for seating at Table #25.

The program is printed on high-quality paper stock, measures 8-1/4 by 11-1/2 and contains 48 pages; the seating plan measures 4-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches and contains 56 pages.

This item will be packaged with a backing board and plastic sleeve in a large bubble envelope, and shipped by priority mail with postal insurance included within the US. International postal insurance may be declined if not desired.

Item ID: 3160
