Beetle Brooch, Carnelian Cabochon Body - Victorian Era Delight
The Victorians loved beetle jewelry, and I especially like this one. The head, legs, antennae and wings are made of a gold-color metal. There are two rhinestone eyes. The body of the beetle is a large red-brown carnelian cabochon stone, set firmly into the mounting.
The pinstem, which is slightly bent, fits into a tube clasp, which dates this unique piece to the middle-to-late 1800s. The brooch measures 1-3/4 by 1-1/8 inches, and is in very good condition. There are no manufacturers marks.
This Victorian brooch will be protectively packaged and shipped by priority mail, with free postage and insurance included. International packages will be sent by First Class Registered mail, also free of charge.
