“Young Man With a Horn” was written and copyrighted by Dorothy Baker in 1938. This is a Houghton Mifflin Literary Fellowship Book, which was an annual award to two promising writers in need of financial assistance to bring projected books to completion. The book is a first edition.

This book was later made into a movie of the same name starring Kirk Douglas and Lauren Bacall.

The book has tan and brown fabric hardcover boards. There is minor shelf wear at the top and bottom of the spine, and light wear at the corners. The binding has cracked at pages 72-73 but is otherwise tight, and there are no cracks at the endpapers. There is an owner’s inscription on the front endpaper. The pages are in very good condition with no tears, creases or dog-ears.

The book contains 243 numbered pages, and measures approximately 5-3/4 by 8-1/4 inches. The dust jacket is worn and torn at the spine and edges with some paper loss.

This book will be carefully boxed and shipped by priority mail, with postal insurance included.
