SOLD Victorian Era White Cotton Ruffled Petticoat

This type of undergarment was found in every woman’s closet in the 1800s. This petticoat is a hand-sewn garment, made of white cotton. The waist is fitted with darts in the front and fully gathered in the back, to fit over a bustle.

The waistband measures 29 inches. The petticoat is 42 inches long, with two wide ruffles about half that length. Condition is good – there is a light stain near the left side seam about four inches from the waist (see photo), and a repaired buttonhole.

My mannequin is thigh-length and is standing on a small table, the edges of which are visible behind the fabric. This garment has been washed and ironed, and comes to you from our smoke-free, pet-free home.
