My shop is a mix of vintage costume jewelry, buttons, clothing, books, postcards, sheet music, ephemera, photos, and more.
The ribbon is dark blue with gold ink printing. There is a beautiful celluloid pin at the top of the ribbon with two flags and the letters “P. H.”, set in a curved gilt metal frame. Hanging from the pin is a second ribbon in red, white and blue, with a circular celluloid button printed with symbols of the Patrons of Husbandry organization. Gold metallic fringe edges the bottom.
On the back of the blue ribbon is the manufacturers label – Fuller Regalia & Costume Co., in Worcester, Massachusetts. A person’s signature is written on the label – “Mabelle C. Hough”. The date is an educated guess, as I have another very similar ribbon on Ruby Lane, #1214, which has patent dates in the 1890s on a label between the two parts of the ribbon. Also, the manufacturer of the Bristol ribbon, Fuller Regalia, was in business in Worcester up to 1903.
This piece is in good condition except that there is a 3/4 inch tear at the middle of the blue ribbon where it had been folded, and the gold ink is worn.
