SALE Vintage Man’s Vest, Beautifully Made, Four Pockets

This remarkable vest has the quality craftsmanship seldom seen in the clothing of today. The vest dates to the early decades of the 1900s, as the label is worded: “Kling Chicago”, and I believe this shop was in Chicago before the 1940s.

The front of the vest is a finely-woven damask with a faint sheen in a pale gray-green color. The back of the vest is a crisp ecru cotton, with facing at the neck and shoulders. The front is faced with the damask material and lined with the ecru fabric. There are four slanted pockets (real ones) – the interior of each is the same ecru fabric.

The five mother-of-pearl buttons are not sewn on – they are attached through tiny buttonholes with stud clips. There is a belt at the waist back which is missing the buckle.

The vest measures about 22-1/2 inches from the shoulder seam to the point at the hem, and is 13-1/2 inches across the shoulders. It is in excellent condition except for one spot on the back (see photo), and the missing buckle.
