My shop is a mix of vintage costume jewelry, buttons, clothing, books, postcards, sheet music, ephemera, photos, and more.
Two dress clips are fitted into a locking base closure mechanism to form a single unit. They can be separated by pressing down a tab on each clip and sliding it out of the base – this mechanism works very well. My photos show the two clips locked together in the closure, and also separated. This type of jewelry design is referred to as a “duette”, which is a term trademarked by Coro, but now used generically.
There are no manufacturers marks, but the patent date of #1945268 shown on the closure accurately dates this piece to 1934. The brooch measures 2-3/4 by 3/4 inches, and is in very good condition.
