When a woman in the early years of the 20th century prepared to go out, she would wear a pretty protective covering over her dress or gown while putting on cosmetics and dressing her hair.

This shoulder cape is made of off-white damask linen, with a tied fringe. Corded piping edges the neckline and makes a bow at the front, ending in two beautiful tassels. It is embroidered in red with designs of hairpins, brushes and combs.

This garment measures 12-1/8 inches from shoulder to hem, excluding the fringe, and is 19 inches across the shoulders. It is in excellent condition, with no damage or soiling.
