This gorgeous vintage black dress is a simple shift, but superbly shaped by two velvet strips which begin at the armhole seams near the bust and curve down past the waist, ending at the side seams near the hips. These velvet strips also become the top edging of a pocket at each side, and then continue down the side seams of the skirt to the hem.
