CORO Sterling Wishbone Brooch by A. Katz -Patent Papers-Heart Dangle

A. Katz designed this charming rose-gold vermeil sterling brooch for Coro on Feb. 14, 1945, (Valentine's Day) which was approved on May 8th, 1945. It has the patent drawings and dates resulting in #141,117. Mr. Katz was one of the top designers for Coro for almost 40 years. Coro was in business from 1901-1979. He was inventive and had technical know-how, producing many of the most beautiful Coro creations.

Also, sterling and vermeil was used to make costume jewelry during WWII, when they needed the harder metals for the war effort. This was introduced at the end of that extremely difficult period in our nation's history and reflects the mood of the country at that time.

This pin is in near mint condition with the heart dangle intact and so sweetly decorated with a clover for good luck in little faux turquoise stones. I have seen other wishbone pins missing this dangle. Also the high domed faux turquoise stone in the larger flower is in the patent design.

This measures almost 2 1/2" long and 1 1/4" wide. It is open and light to wear making it great for the warmer months. Bon chance!
