The large full blossom has creamy white petals outlined in gold plating. All the flowers are covered in paves with faceted faux garnets tucked inside, adding great dimension. I think the curvy stem with elegant green leaves offers a very sophisticated design.
The history of Coro dates back to 1901, when Emanuel Cohn and Gerald Rosenberg opened a small shop in New York. The mark incorporates the first two letters of each partner's name. The broad range of designs and immense volume of jewelry produced by Coro defies description. Early Coro duettes, figurals, sterling pieces including Corocrafts, most Vendome pieces (a Coro brand) and well designed sets from the 1930-40's are highly collectible.
This brooch is in pristine condition. It measures 3" high and 1.5" wide. At the base, on the back, is a small oval where Coro in tiny cursive can barely be made out. I have seen other parts of this set on the world wide web. Wedding bells anyone?
