This wonderful art book is in very good condition considering it's age. There are no markings on it and is totally in tact. The large text is printed on heavy art paper and the color illustrations are printed on smooth white paper, enhancing their clarity. One color plate has a small scruff mark shown in a photo.
What a wonderful addition to any library because this volume is dedicated to America's new school of native painting made possible because of Henry Luce and Life's deep interest in the growth of an authentic American School even before it became the vital movement it is today. In-depth biographies on the artists such as George Inness, James McNeill Whistler, Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, Frederick J. Waugh, Grant Wood are just a few included in this incredible art history book.
This large volume measures 10.5" wide, 13" tall and a full inch thick. It is covered in heavy blue textured cloth with gilt printing on the spine and cover. An "armchair" museum visit for all art connoisseurs!
