In 1935 the Silver Jubilee celebrated the 25th year of the reign of George V and Queen Mary. The royal couple had ruled during a time of great social upheaval, including the First World War and the economic woes of the Great Depression.
This wall plaque is 6 inches in diameter. The portraits of the monarchs are surrounded by the flags and symbols of the Empire nations - Canada, India, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. The black metal frame securely holds the picture, the heavy cardboard backing, and the protective glass cover. The plaque hangs by a ring on a black ribbon.
In very good condition, the piece is near perfect, with no fading of the lithograph, no cracks in the glass, no chips on the frame. There are two small crimped areas along the edge of the frame, which affect neither the appearance nor the historical interest of this commemorative plaque.
