Embellished with fanciful birds, this star shaped, two piece strainer is both decorative and useful.

Both pieces are highly decorated. Three of the bird-like creatures on the top have spots, while the other three have what look like scales. Unsigned, but no doubt English, it appears to be silver plate over copper. The top is 4 1/2 inches across, while the small bowl underneath is 2 inches across, and is deep enough to catch and hold the drips. The entire unit stands 1 1/2 inches high.

This old strainer is in excellent condition, having no breaks, dents or deep scratches. As found, it has not been polished, but will surely shine up nicely.
