This hand crafted beach art brooch features red and blue shells surrounded by more shells painted a creamy, near-natural colour.

Women have always loved to make jewelry from found materials, and shells have traditionally been a favourite medium. This brooch dates from the 1930s. The shells are glued to a fabric back and the fastener is a simple C clasp.

In good condition, with minor chipping and perhaps a tiny shell or two missing, this brooch is still completely wearable and would make a great summer accessory.
