This lovely old crucifix is constructed of wood, covered on the front with pearlized celluloid in the softest shade of spring green. Gold tone filigree metal accents, complete with flowers, decorate each end of the cross. The graceful figure of the Christ is extremely detailed, and there is a scroll with INRI above His head.

This sturdy piece is a pleasingly proportioned 12 inches high and 6 inches across. The celluloid is in excellent condition, with no cracks or breaks. At some point, the celluloid inserts were re-glued along the edges where it was lifting up, and this probably saved it from further deterioration. The filigree metal tips are perfect, with no damage whatsoever, save for oxidation of the tiny nails used to attach it. The figure of Jesus has slight wear to the gold paint, most notably on the chest, which could be easily touched up if desired.

A very pretty crucifix, and a wonderful devotional gift for yourself or a loved one.
